If you are currently receiving JobKeeper payments, you should review your eligible employees in light of the recent Government announcements. You may receive an increase in payments if you find that more of your employees are now eligible.
From 3 August 2020, employees are now eligible for the current wage subsidies and the extensions if they have been working for their employer since at least July 1, 2020, instead of the original deadline of March 1, 2020. This is designed to increase employee eligibility for both the existing JobKeeper scheme, as well as for the new extension periods from 28 September 2020.
Therefore, this change would apply to the following fortnights (under Jobkeeper 1.0):
JobKeeper Fortnight No. | Fortnight Dates | Last date for payment to employee |
10 | 3 August – 16 August 2020 | 16 August 2020 |
11 | 17 August – 30 August 2020 | 30 August 2020 |
12 | 31 August – 13 September 2020 | 13 September 2020 |
13 | 14 September – 27 September 2020 | 27 September 2020 |
Casual employees will still be required to have been employed on a regular and systematic basis for a minimum of 12 months (as required under the existing JobKeeper Scheme).
